OUR LOCATIONS
On Sept. 21, 2009, Options Unlimited accomplished what many said was impossible; a trip to New York City!  33 clients, friends, caregivers and family embarked on a five day, four night adventure to the Big Apple, with stops in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to rest up.
Our journey began with a night time view of the top of the world!  Tired and weary from a long day of travel, the group climbed a winding staircase to enter an 86 story ride to the top of Rockefeller Center.  As the door of the elevator opened, we were only a few steps from a 365 degree view of New York City.  The lights from the skyscrapers and bridges took your breath away.  The buzz of the city touched each and every one of us.  What started as a group of weary travelers ended as a crowd of wide eyed excited tourists, ready for more!
I wish that words could truly explain the enthusiasm and thrill that the group experienced while on this trip.  Nothing held us back from experiencing everything that could fit in the time we were there.  It is hard to say which place was the best.  Between riding the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty up close and personal, surrounding ourselves with the legacy and stories of the thousands who immigrated to Ellis Island; taking a carriage ride through Central Park; watching the Lion King on Broadway; bartering with the street vendors; reliving the movie “A Night at the Museum” at the American Museum of Natural History; and saluting the toy soldier at the entrance of FAO Schwartz, it was definitely a trip with a never ending set of memories.
What started out as a group of acquaintances ended as one big family.  The bonds and friendships that were made in such a short period of time will last forever.  This trip wasn’t a typical vacation, it was a special gift.  We not only proved that the impossible is possible, but we also experienced a chance to be a part of something that will never be forgotten.
“Thank you” to everyone who helped fund raise, bake cookies, collect items for auction, gave their time and rooted for this trip.  We couldn’t have done it without the support and love from everyone who made it happen.
